The Long War
7.5.2010
From the day I was born
You told me I was special, unique and beauty
Then you showed me just how badly your soul was torn
Rage and hate; an arrow aimed at my head
Tried to understand, tried to get you to see
Endured for years, protected the other
Believed this was how my life was supposed to be
Then a day came when I learned you were sick
Something finally started to make sense
The battles fought; the walls coming apart brick by brick
Rehab, relapse, rehab, relapse, rehab, relapse
Weak
That was your reason
I think you liked all of the attention
Just when I thought I was free, you showed me your treason
Too drunk to work; too high to think
Is when I became expendable — useful finally
"She's now dead, so give me another drink!"
Died with a bullet, so I was told
The prettiest flowers received!
They all bought what you sold
A black hole filled with lies so deep
Eternity not enough time to dig your way out
And one day they told me you had died
A portal to hell opened and the demons dragged you in
No matter how much we all tried
The Reaper found you long before your time
But, at long last the war is over
